Who we are

Surface Performance Ltd is an independent UKAS ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory specialising in slip resistance, sports surface, and related technical testing. We have been operating since 2011 and hold full UKAS Schedule 7933 covering BS 7976 / BS EN 16165 pendulum testing (shod slider 96 and wet-barefoot slider 55), EN 13036-4, and related British and European standards.

Slip Testing Scotland is our dedicated service for Scottish commercial premises. We cover all 32 Scottish council areas, from Glasgow and Edinburgh through to the Highlands, Northern Isles, and Outer Hebrides.

Our team

Our engineers are trained to UKAS-specified slip-testing competence levels and calibrated equipment is maintained under strict UKAS-mandated schedules. Every visit is traceable — from calibration records to environmental conditions to individual test run data — producing evidence that stands up in Scottish Sheriff Court litigation.

Independence matters

We do not sell anti-slip treatments. We do not install flooring. We do not recommend specific products. Our UKAS accreditation requires strict impartiality — our reports are evidence, not sales literature.

For Scottish clients defending slip claims, this independence is decisive. A report from a testing company that also sells anti-slip treatments is weaker legal evidence than an independent UKAS-accredited report, because the testing company has a financial interest in the outcome.

Since 2011 we have tested over 2,000 UK sites, issued thousands of UKAS-accredited reports, and supported Scottish businesses through routine compliance, HSE engagement, insurance renewal, and personal injury litigation. Our Scottish work covers every major sector from Aberdeen oil and gas to Speyside distilleries to NHS Scotland estates.

Why Scotland matters to us

Scotland has its own legal framework — Sheriff Courts, Court of Session, 5-year Prescription limitation under the 1973 Act — and its own distinct weather and usage profile that affects floor PTV differently from England. Our dedicated Scottish service reflects this.
